Johnston's Windee Ridge 2009 Embryo Flush

On Sept. 26, Dr. John Crawford of Premier Genetics will be here to perform an embryo flush. One of the does that will be flushed is JWR Marilyn, a daughter of the great DSM Marie. These pictures were taken of the flush in September 2006. As you can see, Dr. John Crawford, assisted by Rachel, performed the surgical procedures in our barn. We had a large group of friends & family who helped.

A recipient doe is sedated for the surgery
After being placed on the trolley, her belly is shaved and disinfected.

He places an embryo in the horn of the uterus

He repeats the procedure on the other side. The doe is left with two small incisions, which are closed by dissolvable stitches.
